A genuine piece of New Zealand
Ōkiwi Bay sits at the northern entrance to Croisilles Harbour, where the tidal race at French Pass brings cold, clear, nutrient-rich water through the channel. Blue cod, snapper, and kingfish live here year-round. The diving visibility hits 20 metres on a good day.
There are 80 permanent residents in the French Pass community. It is not a commercial park. It is a real place, with a store, fuel, and people who have been coming here for generations.
Powered sites, tent sites, self-contained cabins, and a homestay lodge sleeping up to eight. Come for a night, stay for a week.
Getting to Ōkiwi Bay
From Blenheim, take State Highway 6 toward Nelson. At Pelorus Bridge, turn onto Rai Valley Road and follow signs to French Pass. The drive is about 1.5 hours. The road is sealed all the way.
Cell coverage gets patchy after Rai Valley. Download offline maps before you leave. Once you get to French Pass village, Ōkiwi Bay is clearly signed.
